Current Projects
I'm always chipping away at something :P

EDIFY
Genre: Biopunk, Cyberpunk, a pinch of fantasy

My main focus for the last few years. My baby. A mid-weight TTRPG that places you into the blood stained boots of corporate goons fighting to maintain the status quo in retro-futuristic capitalist hellscape. Take up arms, pop in industrial cybernetiks, mutate yourself, n' sling vile incantations to kill for the machine in this dystopic power fantasy.

UHI
Genre: Superhero

Ultimate Heroes Incorporated! A collaboration with the brilliant HodagRPG, UHI is a celebration of homebrewed superheroes and the joys of comic books. Fill the shoes of a freshly disbanded super team in the late 1990s, and prepare for the incoming cataclysm. Will your actions bring about the magical wasteland of the UHI Underground, or the superscience utopia of UHI Unlimited?

What this place is
Hey there! My name's Drake. I'm a TTRPG designer and all around nut for woodgrain n' yellowed paper. The bulk of my time is spent working, but when I'm not working I'm either getting way too into something I'm playing, hanging out with my partner, or having a blast working on my projects. If you wanna check them out, you can read a summary on the left!

This website exists for a few reasons, chiefly because I think personal websites are rad and more people should have 'em. Beyond that, I have a lot of random thoughts about game design, literary tropes, etc. I figure it would be best to my fiancée if I contained them a hair via the dreaded, the terrifying, the wretched BLOG POST format.

As such, this little echo chamber exists to contain my unfiltered thoughts. If anyone wants to read them, that is also cool and good!

I was raised on a Windows ME machine, so I've also got a bit of a hankering for techy aesthetics of that era. Expect to see that crop up more in future projects, but EDIFY has a few crumbs of it. Graphic design is fun for me, but I'm not very good at it.

Beyond my love of TTRPGs and hobbiest enjoyment of graphic design, I tend to play a good chunk of board games. Particularly of the solo variety. Something about smashing a big game into a tiny box made to be played by one person scratches the inside of my skull. I have a few of those cooking too, but not finished enough for me to consider them active projects. I'm sure I'll talk about designing board games too.

I'd love to read normal books more. Classic fantasy and science fiction are incredible inspirations, and I'm drawn to sword and sorcery as a cornerstone of my tastes. Knights in heavy plate armor, evil wizards with ornate robes, and freaky little monsters. I read comics every now and then, primarily of the DC variety. Justice League International has persisted as a favorite, and I'm a lifelong fan of the JSA. Marvel's cool too, but I find myself prefering DC characters.

It's seldom that I bake in time to watch a movie or TV show anymore, but that doesn't stop me from soaking up B-movies within the horror and action sphere. On the side of movies that are actually good, John Carpenter's output is virtually unmatched in my book. I love Twin Peaks, and its wormed its way into my brain for myriad reasons.

In terms of music, I mainly listen to Post-Punk and New Wave. Goth rock is cool too! I used to be huge on synthwave, but I'm quite a bit pickier now. Currently listening to a lot of Depeche Mode, Boy Harsher, Perturbator, and Art Fact.

Real shocking to reveal that I also play video games. Anymore it's usually indie roguelites, but I also dig first person shooters and RPGs.

That should sum it up! If you'd ever like to give me a shout, you're welcome to :)
